MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To assist the Survey section in providing surveying services to the Mining environment in a cost effective and safe manner, in accordance with Swakop Uranium (SU) standards.

Key Performance Areas:

• Carry out all daily survey-related tasks within the designated area of responsibility.
• Survey pre- and post-drilling collar positions.
• Conduct monthly stockpile and pit depletion surveys as required.
• Control and stake blast block patterns, misfires, lost steel, composites, and dumping limits.
• Conduct tache surveys in and around the mining area as per standards.
• Install grade sets and rotate lasers for bench loading control.
• Construct precise leveling turning points.
• Process surveyed data using relevant software to produce accurate and reliable outputs.
• Assist with haul truck weighbridge measurements and calibration.
• Perform routine checks on high-precision GPS systems installed on earth-moving equipment.

Requirements and experience:

• Grade 12 or current NSSCO with at least 20 points over 5 subjects (including Mathematics).
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in an opencast mining surveying environment.
• Elementary Survey Certificate or relevant survey qualification will be an added advantage.
• Knowledge of survey instruments such as leveling machines.
• Understanding and practical use of GPS and total stations.
• Experience operating drones and scanning equipment.
• Knowledge of survey data positioning software.
• Valid Code B/BE driver’s license.
