MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To lead a competent team of mechanical-trained subordinates for the effective and efficient maintenance of all machinery and mechanical equipment to ensure that production targets are achieved, at maximum workshop availability and optimum cost, including adherence to job safety and good housekeeping standards.

Key Performance Areas

• Develop, recommend, and implement strategies to improve equipment and process reliability.
• Coordinate the application of Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM/RCS) to minimize equipment failures and downtime.
• Monitor and quantify reliability cost savings, production improvements, and asset lifecycle performance.
• Support maintenance and project teams with critical spares analysis, preventive maintenance optimization, and condition monitoring.
• Investigate equipment issues, implement system improvements, and test corrective actions.
• Develop and execute RCM implementation plans, objectives, and reliability initiatives.
• Maintain the integrity of RCM and reliability-centered spares management systems, including technical standards and reporting.
• Develop and implement audit programs to evaluate maintenance and spares management effectiveness.
• Apply predictive and preventive maintenance strategies to maximize equipment availability and minimize production interruptions.
• Identify production losses and high-maintenance-cost assets, implementing solutions to improve reliability and reduce costs.
• Support Life Cycle Asset Management (LCAM) processes by ensuring the reliability and maintainability of new and modified assets.

Requirements

• B.Sc., B.Eng., or BTech Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in a mining maintenance environment or mining processing plant, including at least 2 years in a managerial role.
• Experience in project management, including feasibility studies, planning, risk management, implementation, cost control, and sustainability.
• Experience managing the structural integrity of processing plants in compliance with legal requirements.
• Exposure to process optimization and equipment reliability improvement.
• Strong understanding of risk management processes.
• Knowledge of quality management principles and systems.
• Registration with the Engineering Council of Namibia or an equivalent professional body.
• Valid Code B/BE Driver’s Licence.
