MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To plan and coordinate activities concerned with design, construction, modification, and maintenance of the plant to ensure effective and efficient maintenance of all mechanical equipment to achieve production targets, at maximum workshop availability and optimum cost, including adherence to SSHER requirements.

Key Performance Areas:

• Enforce and implement legal and procedural compliance and ensure statutory and general governance in the area of responsibility
• Produce contingency plans and remedial actions to minimize short‑, medium‑, and long‑term risks
• Participate in the maintenance, inspection, and repair of related equipment in the area of responsibility
• Draw up operational project objectives through project proposals and plans, and confer with management
• Implement systems and procedures to ensure efficient project execution
• Determine project specifications and identify project responsibilities
• Ensure analysis, design/drawings, planning, and implementation of projects align with valid executed contracts, company policies, procedures, and work instructions
• Collaborate with various departments to maintain electrical integrity of all plant equipment
• Ensure plant equipment is maintained and operating per OEM specifications
• Identify downtime root causes and implement preventative maintenance programs to eliminate them
• Implement approved reliability‑improvement initiatives and models
• Develop, investigate, and implement enhancements to reliability‑centered maintenance and reliability‑centered spares systems at plant level
• Apply data‑analysis techniques—RCA, FMEA, FRACAS—to develop engineering solutions to repetitive failures
• Provide input for the section’s annual operational budget

Requirements and experience:

• B.Sc, B.Eng, or BTech in Electrical Engineering
• Five years’ experience in a mining maintenance environment or mining processing plant, with at least two years in a managerial capacity
• Experience in a mining/processing‑plant environment is a distinct advantage
• Exposure to structural and chemical tank repairs and EMVs
• Proven experience in multidisciplinary continuous‑improvement projects and R&D for new or improved projects
• Exposure to process optimization, equipment life extension, and reliability improvement
• Strong track record in contract and contractor coordination
• Registration with a professional body (added advantage)
• Valid Code B/BE driver’s license
