MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To lead a competent team of mechanical-trained subordinates for the effective and efficient maintenance of all machinery and mechanical equipment to ensure that production targets are achieved, at maximum workshop availability and optimum cost, including adherence to job safety and good housekeeping standards.

Key Performance Areas:

• Develop, recommend and implement strategies for improving equipment and process reliability
• Lead the formulation, planning and implementation of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Reliability Centered Spares (RCS) philosophies and techniques to achieve Swakop Uranium’s Asset‑Management Strategy
• Coordinate the application of RCM/RCS to minimize costly equipment failure and downtime through precision monitoring of operations
• Monitor and quantify reliability cost‑savings, increased production and/or equipment life‑cycle benefits
• Acquire and utilize data to identify and analyze deviations, delays and losses for improvement opportunities
• Plan and execute reliability projects on the mine, including contractor management
• Investigate and resolve user problems, initiate system corrections, monitor changes‑in‑progress and test corrections and enhancements
• Maintain the integrity of RCM and RCS system data and reporting functions by developing and implementing technical standards, specifications and quality systems
• Develop, investigate and implement enhancements to the RCM/RCS system by assessing latest trends and making recommendations
• Develop and implement audit programs to assess the effectiveness of RCM/RCS philosophies and techniques
• Utilize RCM/RCS analysis to implement predictive and preventive maintenance tasks that minimize production interruptions
• Implement and monitor common RCM key‑performance indicators for internal and external reporting; correct deviations where necessary
• Manage risks in environmental health and safety, asset capability, quality and production, using appropriate risk‑reduction tools to achieve strategic objectives

Requirements and experience:

• B.Sc, B.Eng or BTech in Mechanical Engineering
• Five years’ experience in a mining maintenance environment or mining processing plant, with at least two years in a managerial capacity
• Project‑management experience covering feasibility studies, planning and risk management, implementation, cost control/forecasting and sustainability
• Experience managing structural integrity of processing‑plant infrastructure per legal requirements
• Exposure to process optimization and equipment‑reliability improvement
• Sound understanding of risk‑management processes
• Proficient in quality‑management principles and processes
• Registration with a professional engineering body (advantageous)
• Valid Code B/BE driver’s licence
