MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To identify and implement opportunities to improve equipment reliability through failure analysis, data collection, and identification of changes to maintenance, operations, purchasing, and design practices.

Key Performance Areas:

• Implement reliability practices and objectives to improve equipment and process reliability.
• Support the application of RCA/RCM principles to minimise costly equipment failures and downtime through precision monitoring of operations.
• Monitor and quantify reliability cost savings based on field results achieved, reviewed, and action plans closed out.
• Provide assistance to Maintenance and Project teams with effective analytical reviews, maintenance optimisation, and condition monitoring processes.
• Support user problems, initiate corrections, monitor and request system changes, and test corrections and enhancements.
• Support the implementation of reliability improvement initiatives and monitor progress as required.
• Ensure compliance with SU standard RCM key performance indicators, meet internal reporting requirements, and correct deviations as required.
• Identify production losses and abnormally high maintenance costs associated with assets and consult with Maintenance Team Leaders on potential solutions.
• Provide input into Risk Management plans that anticipate reliability-related and non-reliability-related risks that could adversely impact equipment operations.
• Promote an understanding of the importance of reliability performance, measured by Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) and Mean Time to Repair (MTTR), at artisan skill level to ensure appropriate understanding and related actions.
• Carry out any lawful instructions and tasks in accordance with all applicable SSHERQ standards, practices, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Maintain a clean and tidy work area in accordance with good housekeeping standards.

Requirements and experience:

• Grade 12 or current NSSCO with 20 points over 5 subjects.
• National Technical Diploma (N6) or an equivalent qualification with a National Vocational Trade Certificate (N3) in Electrical.
• Minimum of 5 years' post-apprenticeship experience in an engineering environment.
• Experience in the application of RCM/RCS/FMEA analysis.
• Experience with OEM Equipment Management Systems such as ET, VIMS, KOMTRAX, etc.
• Experience with SAP PM.
• Experience in data evaluation and statistics.
• Valid Code B/BE driver's licence.
