PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

To lead and coordinate all activities within the Foods & Toiletries department by ensuring merchandising excellence, strong operational standards, and outstanding customer service, ultimately driving sales, profitability, and team performance.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Drive Sales & Performance

• Achieve monthly sales, shrinkage, and gross profit targets.
• Maximise department performance through effective resource utilisation.
• Identify opportunities to increase sales and improve departmental results.

Merchandising & Stock Excellence

• Maintain QDVP4 and merchandising standards to attract customers and drive sales.
• Monitor stock levels, ensure proper stock rotation (FIFO), and manage expiry dates.
• Ensure accurate ordering and adherence to receiving procedures.

Customer Experience

• Deliver exceptional customer service at all times.
• Ensure the department is visually appealing, well-stocked, and easy to shop.

Standards, Hygiene & Compliance

• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
• Ensure compliance with food safety and operational procedures.
• Monitor equipment usage and overall department upkeep.

People Leadership

• Supervise, coach, and develop team members.
• Manage staff scheduling, attendance, and productivity.
• Promote adherence to company standards, grooming requirements, and professionalism.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES:

• National Senior Certificate (Grade 12).
• Minimum 3 years’ supervisory experience in a retail Foods & Toiletries environment.
• Proven experience in stock management, merchandising, and team performance.
