Job Description:

To oversee and manage risks associated with the bank’s payment systems and channels, ensuring secure, compliant, and efficient transaction processing across domestic and international platforms.

Are you someone who can:

• Identify, measure, assess, report, and monitor risks within the designated payments portfolio across multiple payment rails, channels, systems, and digital operations.
• Ensure understanding and alignment with regulatory requirements set by the Bank of Namibia, Payments Association of Namibia, and other relevant industry bodies.
• Support payment-related projects from a risk management perspective.
• Design and develop insightful analytics to assess trends and support risk profiling and reporting.
• Conduct detailed reviews and deep-dive analyses to challenge existing processes and improve the risk profile.
• Ensure risk reporting is supported by strong data integrity and aggregation principles in line with BCBS 239.
• Perform in-depth root cause analyses to evaluate the effectiveness of risk mitigation strategies.
• Prepare and analyse risk reports for presentation at various Risk Committees, ensuring accuracy and timely submissions.
• Drive an integrated assurance approach by collaborating with internal stakeholders and assurance partners.
• Develop and maintain a monitoring plan to ensure effective coverage of key controls and compliance with risk control frameworks.
• Promote a strong risk culture and continuous improvement in organisational risk maturity.
• Track and report progress on risk strategy implementation and escalate significant risks to governance forums where required.

You will be an ideal candidate if you:

• Postgraduate Degree in Process Engineering, Risk Management, Information Systems, Accounting, Auditing, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5–8 years’ experience in payments processing or transactional banking.
• At least 3 years of experience at a management level.
• Strong knowledge of international and domestic payment systems.
• Strong understanding of payment platforms and regulatory frameworks.
• Experience with fraud detection tools and risk analytics.
• Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, SQL, or similar platforms.
